Kimberly Willcox (she/her/hers) is an interdisciplinary artist pursuing her MFA degree in Alfred, NY. She received her BFA with a concentration in painting from Tyler School of Art at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. There she explored the material conventions of painting and began to challenge them in different ways. There, Her work began to move in between the realms of many different ways of making.
During her undergraduate years, she explored many different mediums and materials outside of her chosen concentration, mainly glass. After receiving her degree, she remained in the Philadelphia area for a few years as a studio and teaching assistant in the glass department at Tyler. In her pursuit to understand glass as a material, she created her own flameworking studio in her home and continued her work.
She is currently a Masters candidate in the Sculpture and Dimensional Studies Program at the School of Art and Design in The New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University. She continues to explore materials through the lens of domesticity and familial dynamics.
